Matthew, our fearless Dev Leader has returned from picking up his wife from the airport. The energy has certainly gone up, and the noise of the dev teams keyboard is deafening.
Keep pounding away dev. The clock is on the field…

Development has committed to a launch at 11:59pm tonight. It will be a “dirty launch,” with a limited feature set, but it will lay out the framework for future functionality.
Go Dev!

Will asked folks to consider being part of the Move Forward Team. He wants people to think about it for a couple of days and then email him to express their interest in joining the team.

Dev has decided to start trimming features to figure out if a launch will be possible. At 11pm, we will have a go/no-go decision as to whether to launch tonight or to wait to add additional features in the near future.
Its the discussion that happens at each StartupWeekend. In talking with PJ, one of the developers, he said that because we were doing in Rails, that most of the developers had similar processes, even if their coding abilities differed. In addition, it was just too much straight coding, that small breaks or a different way to keep productivity high was necessary. Any one have any ideas how how to better manage a large number of developers working on a project in a finite time period? Rotating teams? Smaller project pieces?

BizDev: Is done.
Marketing: Finished site copy and finalizing blogger outreach strategy.
UX: Is done.
Design/Creative: New Logo, otherwise done.
Dev: And the verdict is “a dirty launch by midnight.”
Will asked people to start thinking about Monday.

PR/Marketing is busy laying out the strategy for Monday. They have identified bloggers and communities to target, written many press releases and strategy documents. Of all the weekends I have seen, from a planning/strategy perspective, this team is certainly the best.
Looking forward to seeing the execution.

It seems that there has been a snag, in that the addition of COPPA requirements has increased the time it will take to see our 9pm (now 37 minutes past) demo.
*fingers crossed* that we will see a 10pm demo.
The interesting thing is that the dev lead and team are not showing any panic. In fact, I am hearing a cheer or two as I type this. I am hopeful that this is the only roadblock of the evening.

Through a quick adjustment in click through rate expectations, Business Development has achieved a hockey stick with no Y-axis. Brad would be proud. (But would he invest?)
